I’m part of the Scientific Committee for three interesting conferences in 2018!

HKT2018 – Lausanne, Switzerland

In September the 33rd edition of the Himalaya-Karakorum-Tibet workshop (HKT) will take place in Lausanne, Switzerland. This will be a great opportunity to meet the different communities who work in this region.

THERMO – Quedlinburg, Germany

Also in September, is the 16th International Thermochronometry conference: THERMO which will take place in Quedlinburg, Germany. I’m really excited about this meeting where the latest advances and applications of thermochronometry will be discussed. I’ll also be giving a keynote talk about some of the latest developments in trapped-charge thermochronometry and thermometry.

DLED2018 – Beatenberg, Switzerland

I am organising the European (also known as German) Luminescence and Electron Spin Resonance meeting in November, which will take place in Beatenberg, near to Interlaken. This is a fantastic informal conference (complete with its own song!) where you can meet European based researchers working on trapped-charge dating. Further details of the meeting will be posted in April 2018, but you can find out some information already from the website here.

Interested in glaciers? Check out this excellent website by Bethan Davies from Royal Holloway University in London: www.antarcticglaciers.org. There is even a contribution on luminescence dating of glacial sediments from when I was in Aberystwyth here.

The GeoBus initiative led by Dr Ruth Robinson at the University of St Andrews has brought Geology to the school children of Scotland since 2012, find out more on this project here.

Need to calculate a dose rate for luminescence dating? Not sure where to start? Check out the Dose Rate and Age Calculator (affectionately known as DRAC) here.
